Question #1:
I can't decide...please help!?
At the end of August I enter my final year of high school. Last week I received my schedule for the following year, but the either period class was one that I had already taken and passed (with flying colors, I might add(clothing & interior design)). Beside the point, I'm already planning to take two classes (leadership & nutrition courses(i'm planning on being a completer)) related to the one I passed last year. I don't feel like retaking Clothing class because I passed it at the top of my class last year, but my school set the schedule up so that I would would either have to take that class, a life skills class with a teacher I particularly dislike, join a sports team(I prefer being in the band), or being an office or teacher's aid. Or get a job(which I can't, as I don't have a car). You can see my dilemma. What do you think I should do, answerers? Should I retake a class I've passed with flying colors already? Should I take life skills class? What is life skills class, anyway? Should I join the sports team even though I already devote a large portion of my time to band? Should I become an aid? My only real problem with that is that I've never actually learned how to work my school's copy machine and I never took the time to learn the names of the women who work in the office. Should I poke my parents into getting me a car like they promised me a year ago so I can take JAG class and get a job?
Please give me your honest and well thought out opinions. The most thought out will receive the best answer position. :)
*the 8th period
Question #2:
Why is my cardio suffering?
It's summer and i tend to watch the foods I eat when i excercise and do sports. (Carbs, sugars, trans fasts etc.)But lately my cardio has been suffereing, insanely. Is their a certain nutrition I am missing that is making me "run out of fuel" so quickly.
And can someone give me a list of Low carb foods and catabolic foods
Thank you for the help anna! and yeah I'm on a supplement that helps add 3,000 calories to my diet because I do lift weight three times a week.
Question #3:
Problems with my height?
hey i've just turned 18, and i have problems with my height. I've overheard girls talking about me in the past saying how they thought i was cute but too short, and it adds to my complex over height. My mum is 5'1, my dad is 5'8, i am 5'8 also. I just feel pretty short, and I know its not too far from average height, which is like 5'10, but where i live and the people i know just seem to be much taller, I don't know many guys shorter than 5'11, and most girls i speak to are relatively tall like 5'6>I don't know if its possible to grow after 18, as my dad is quite short as well, and my mum, there are tall men in my family however. Is there any way to know if i've stopped being able to grow, or is there any way to encourage growth through like the right nutrition and sport?
Question #4:
i need help choosing a major for college?
i will be a senior in high school this year and my parents want me to start thinking about a major so i can choose a college with a good program for that major. the only problem is i dont know any majors that interest me. so can anyone tell me a major that fits my interests?so i really enjoy working out and playing sports, i would like to do major in something that has to do with fitness/nutrition. i DO NOT want to be a P.E. teacher or a trainer at a gym. i want to do something more difficult than that. i also love to travel, anywhere and everywhere. are there any career/majors that i could do that fit my either both or one of my interests?
Question #5:
what should i study in college / what majors might suit me?
likes / strengths:social sciences
photography
anything creative
writing
making and editing "movies" on my own
Seventeen [or any teen] magazine
sports
nutrition / health
law? i guess
debating [good at arguing when called for (: haha]
dislikes / weaknesses:
science in general [physics, biology]
shakespeare [i like most english, but this is definitely an exception]
i really don't know what i'll end up doing with my life. i could go in so many different, unrelated directions, and i'm kind of indecisive. i wish i could combine everything, but a lot of them are unrelated. anyway, =/ any ideas at all? thanks (:
Question #6:
What happens if you haven't gone to the bathroom (#2) in a week?
Hey,So right to the point, as the title suggests, I haven't been able to use the restroom (#2) for perhaps a week. I've been told by nutrition experts that if is almost necessary to use the restroom once per day.I've been feeling bloated and very much full for quite some time so i don't know why i'm not going. Thus i've been eating lots of fiber (celery sticks, brocoli, etc), lots of probiotics (through kiefer probiotic yogurt, my own probiotic pills, etc) and drinking a lot of water (about 110 oz of water per day...or five to six nalgen bottles)
......Yet still nothing.
Any advice? OTCs? natural methods?
Thanks in advance.
Note...it's not like i'm dying here, however i would prefer to do my normal activities (sports, dancing, etc) feeling non-bloated. Thanks again!

Question #7:
please find the analysis in this article?
Several years ago, Dr. David Rowlands, a senior lecturer with the Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health at Massey University in New Zealand, set out to study the role of protein in recovery from hard exercise. He asked a group of male cyclists to ride intensely until their legs were aching and virtually all of their stored muscle fuel had been depleted. The cyclists then consumed bars and drinks that contained either mostly carbohydrates or both carbohydrates and protein. Then, over the next few days, they completed two sessions of hard intervals. One took place the following morning; the next, two days later.Dr. Rowlands found that the cyclists showed little benefit during the first interval session. But during the second, the men who ingested protein had an overall performance gain of more than 4 percent, compared with the men who took only carbohydrates, “which is huge, in competitive terms,” Dr. Rowlands says. Other researchers’ earlier studies produced similar results. Protein seems to aid in the uptake of carbohydrates from the blood; muscles pack in more fuel after exercise if those calories are accompanied by protein. The protein is also thought to aid in the repair of muscle damage after hard exercise. Dr. Rowlands’s work, which was published in 2008, was right in line with conventional wisdom.
Not so his latest follow-up study, which was published online in May in the journal Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise and should raise eyebrows, especially lightly plucked ones. After his original work was completed, Dr. Rowlands says, “we received inquiries from female cyclists,” asking to be part of any further research. So, almost as an afterthought, Dr. Rowlands and his colleagues repeated the entire experiment with experienced female riders.
This time, though, the results were quite different. The women showed no clear benefit from protein during recovery. They couldn’t ride harder or longer. In fact, the women who received protein said that their legs felt more tired and sore during the intervals than did women who downed only carbohydrates. The results, Dr. Rowlands says, were “something of a surprise.”

Scientists know, of course, that women are not men. But they often rely on male subjects exclusively, particularly in the exercise-science realm, where, numerically, fewer female athletes exist to be studied. But when sports scientists recreate classic men-only experiments with distaff subjects, the women often react quite differently. In a famous series of studies of carbo-loading (the practice of eating a high-carbohydrate diet before a race), researchers found that women did not pack carbohydrates into their muscles as men did. Even when the women upped their total calories as well as the percentage of their diet devoted to carbohydrates, they loaded only about half as much extra fuel into their muscles as the men did.
Why women respond differently seems obvious. Women are, after all, awash in the hormone estrogen, which, some new science suggests, has greater effects on metabolism and muscle health than was once imagined. Some studies have found that postmenopausal women who take estrogen replacement have healthier muscles than postmenopausal women who do not. Even more striking, in several experiments, researchers from McMaster University in Canada gave estrogen to male athletes and then had them complete strenuous bicycling sessions. The men seemed to have developed entirely new metabolisms. They burned more fat and a smaller percentage of protein or carbohydrates to fuel their exertions, just as women do.
What all of this emerging science means for women and the scientists who study (or ignore) them is not yet completely clear. “We need more research” into the differences between male and female athletes, Dr. Rowlands says. In his own study, a particularly intriguing and mysterious finding suggested that the female cyclists somehow sustained less muscle damage during the hard intervals than the men did. Their blood contained lower levels of creatine kinase, a biochemical marker of trauma in muscle tissue. Did estrogen protect the women’s muscles during the riding? And if so, why did the female cyclists who ingested protein complain of sore and tired muscles during the sessions? “Honestly, I don’t know,” Dr. Rowlands says, adding that he does not think that his findings suggest that women should skip protein after exercise. “It’s true that we didn’t see evidence for a benefit,” he says. But his study was one of a kind. The findings need to be replicated.
In the meantime, female athletes should view with skepticism the results from exercise studies that use only male subjects. As Dr. Rowlands says — echoing a chorus of men before him — when it comes to women, there’s a great deal that sports scientists “just don’t understand.”

"The best thing to do is declare yourself as a general major the first year. Then take a broad range of classes and find out what you like. The first two years of college are all the basic classes anyway, and you pretty much need them all the same no matter what. This way you will know what classes you want to take later on."
Yeah i like that idea but the problem is I'd like to go to a college that is especially good for whatever major I choose, so i can get the best education. (I think some colleges put more emphasis on certain subjects)
Also, I think I will avoid anything to do with art / theatre / dance / music since all of these areas are extremely competitive and success is rare.
Question #9:
Should we get real about race?
Black apologists say that blacks have been oppressed and that's why they do badly.Black apologists say whites or other races stole things from blacks.
Black abologists habitually deny that blacks do badly in the first place.
Let us first consider the claim that blacks do badly because whites etc. oppressed them.
Well if that's true it proves that blacks are either weaker or so kind that they would not fight back at all.
Second, we'll just have to ask this? Would you trust a person with special needs (mentally challenged) to develop a civilization? Would you say that your dog could be a genius if (s)he was only given the right education and conditions? Would you, seriously?
-
Because testing has proved time and time again that the average IQ of blacks in any african country makes them out to be borderline retarded or just plain retarded. American blacks score higher which can be explained by their mixing with whites, but still a lot lower than whites. Do you see a correlation there?
Does it matter whether a person is 'oppressed' or not if they don't have the brain power to make something of their existence?
-
There is no continent richer in natural resources than Africa, yet it has very little relevance in international trade.
Have you seen the beautiful, photorealistic sculpture, paintings and the buildings dating to european middle ages? They are still admired today. They most certainly did not take that from blacks. When whites or arabs settled in Africa, all they found was nature in its pure form. The buildings of africans were similar to that of animals like birds and beavers. The roads, hospitals, schools, hygiene, cars and pretty much everything beyond pure animal existence in today's Africa owes itself to white charity and labour. It gives the africans dignity.
Just like slavery gave blacks dignity by allowing them access to the civilized world where they would never have made themselves as they never set sail and explored foreign lands.
-
They get quality healthcare, education, law and protection, proper nutrition, shelter and luxury culture and items beyond their wildest african fantasies. Unfortunately, their prehistoric nature comes to light in their rampant criminality that is disproportionately common relative to their host population. The men find it very hard to resist the beauty of white women and rape more than 100 white women a day in USA which equals any KKK lynchings of history with ease. Does not matter if it's in the USA or undiluted, first generation african refugees to european welfare states. The violent crime, STD's and HIV, disproportionate dependence on welfare, the disproportionate amount of retarded dependents beyond education and racial agitators hurting productivity with their affirmative actions destroy white civil rights, money and lives every day.
-
The fact that blacks kill and hurt each other, including their own children, many times more than whites lends lie to the claim that whites are out to hurt blacks. Whites gave blacks human dignity unavailable in Africa. They even allow blacks to make millions by throwing "hoops" and tackling white men on a football field, because white society is so rich that it can afford that. The huge, bulky black sports millionaires would quickly succumb to HIV, slavery, murder or never grow to their full potential if they were born in Africa among 'brothers'. The occasional african baby genius runs a great danger of meeting the same fate. We allow ourselves to pretend that races are the same and that blacks are just as capable (if not more) and joke about how "whites can't dance" but not about how blacks can't stay out of prison or go to college. The lies that we allow our children to be taught damage our health as our children grow up having to learn the truth the hard way. All the way through, their learning in school is hampered by the disproportionate number of black kids with oversexualized, loud and violent behaviour brought about by their smaller brain. Europeans had to manage extremely harsh winters and get creative to survive or die. They had less natural resources to work with but still managed to flourish. Blacks lying on the warm african savannah needed far less wits to survive and thus there has not been much evolutionary pressure for them to change. No advanced farming or cultivating of crops, no domestication of animals. Yet indians managed to domesticate the elephant.
Question #10:
What is the best way to reduce anxiety naturally?
My boyfriend was involved in an automobile accident a year ago which totaled his brand new sports car, and left him ill. Though he was not physically injured, he had a panic attack a month after his accident and has been taking anti-anxiety medication ever since. Some of the medications he has been taking are: Stelabid, Lorezapham, and Carbemazpean (sp?) amongst others. He is currently on Paxil and will take Zoloft. He suffers from anxiety and dizziness associated with anxiety, which disrupts his daily activities. I am worried that when he starts his new job in the first week of July, he will have problems. Please help me help him. What can he do to naturally relieve his anxiety? How should he deal with mini-panick attacks?
He has tried: breathing exercises, visualization, meditation, prayer, medication, exercise, sex, good nutrition, exposing himself gradually to anxiety producing situations, psychiatrist visits, medical doctor visits, sleep, and I also pray for him as does his family.
What else can he do?
Question #11:
Does our nutrition and diet affect our performance in sport?
Does it effect us? If so, how much?Question #12:
MMA drinking culture?
I don't think MMA is bull$hit like many on this site,I think its main fault has to do with the drinking culture that comes along with it.I watch 2 seasons of the ultimate fighter show and these guys train during the day than drink at night.Sometimes saps actually come to practice with hangovers or the real idiots drink heavily days before a fight. The commercials are almost all about alcohol. You can argue "its just a reality show",but this show has produced a couple champions(3 or 4) and plenty of top contenders.Fedor Emilanko,Tito Ortiz,Chuck Liddel 3 of the sports biggest champions and top draws, they all love to drink. Can you imagine what would happen if Paquiao,Mayweather,Hopkins,etc... drank all the time. Its been known forever that drinking ages the body faster and in competitive fighting you train hard partially to slow down the natural aging process.Im not saying there was never a boxer who drinks often(Kelly Pavlik),but to be an elite fighter you must have a disciplined diet.In my opinion MMA can never be an elite sport if they don't get rid of the drinking culture involved,do you agree?Click Here
Asked in boxing section because people are always comparing the two and I think this is a main reason why many boxers and fans don't respect MMA.

Question #14:
Why am I never hungry when I wake up for breakfast?
Over the past 3-4 weeks, I have never been hungry when I wake up for breakfast. I feel bloated, and I don't want to eat anything. I know skipping breakfast is a terrible idea, but I don't know what to do. I have tried things like not eating breakfast until I feel hungry, forcing myself to eat breakfast (which makes me feel sick, I never finish the entire meal), and even substituting your normal cereal or toast with a liquid drink called "Up & Go", in an attempt to 'get it down' easier. I'm not sure why I feel bloated whenever I wake up. My dinner meals have not changed in size or time when eaten, though I have noticed I have been going to bed later than what I used to. I am a 16 year old male and I do a lot sport every day of the week (besides Monday), so I am constantly using energy, and I understand nutrition well. If anyone has any clue why I am not hungry, I would be very grateful. Thanks for your time.
I do eat some snacks like morning and afternoon tea, but not too many.
Question #15:
How Does A 17 Year Old Get A Six Pack Of Abs And Stronger Biceps?
I'm 17 years old, it's summer so I have plenty of time to work out. I would like to know what to eat, what workouts to do, and when to do them. I'm in fairly ok shape i just want to lose stomach fat so my abs can show also tone up my biceps. I have a gym membership so either way any weight training cardio anything that will help me. My goal by the end of summer is to have a six pack of abs and stronger more toned biceps. For example what my end goal would look like Taylor Lautner from twilight or Chris Brown for celebrities. I know they have personal trainers and such. I would like a set schedule or plan I should say like what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and what also exercises to do at home; morning, noon, and night and also at the gym. I'm fully committed my next step is just to have a plan drawn up anything will help! P90X looks promising but I cant afford it right now and i would like the just of it instead of running through all the videos and nutrition guides. I appreciate it! BTW I'm in ok shape used to do alot of sports but took a few years off. Now its showin lolToo add on also to lose fat in the peck area and flatten them out.
Question #16:
Can someone help me translate this into the spanish subjunctive?
I need help first translating this to Spanish and then turning it into the subjunctive tense. Subjunctive really confuses me."There is no doubt that a healthy diet is necessary for good health. Unless you avoid junk food your diet cannot be considered healthy. Junk does not offer a lot of nutrition, and is usually fattening. If you eat too much junk food you will become overweight. Obesity can lead to heart problems and diabetes. If you don’t have a healthy died you will always feel tired and not have enough energy to do your schoolwork. A healthy died can help you get good grades and do well in sports."

Question #19:
Should I test for ADD and possibly take ritalin?
Hey.. I'm 18, which is considered as senior in where I'm from.I used to think my entire childhood that I was a lazy-bum, only video games would get my attention.
I used to have an average 85~ without doing homework (I would copy them from a friend prior to the lesson).
Thing is.. everytime I want to do homework, I sort of.. "drift" away in my thoughts, I use to think about going to the gym, my general nutrition (I do sports.. it's for a reason), about pc games, tv shows, music - anything that isn't school related.
I used to think I got a lousy memory, but it's not the case, recently when I forced myself into studying to a test that required a lot of memrizing - I scored over 90 (93 I think).
When I want to study I usually move my legs a lot and move around the house for no reason.
One major thing that upsets me, is when I DO know the material, I do lots of stupid mistakes because I rush things and don't pay close attention and then when I lose points I flip. (I actually got 70 in physics once when I could get 90)
I did my thinking.. I think it's ADD or ADHD, I don't know which. (ADD I guess, I'm no hyper)
I can test for ADD, but then what?.. the doc would give me ritalin or something similar, I'm torn apart, on one hand I want to score high and to get to a good university (andI know I can score much higher..), but on the other hand, I don't want to risk my health - I don't drink nor smoke,I'm physically active and eating only healthy foods - or try at least.
I feel so shitty it's unbelievble.
Please comment!
You really don't have to catch me on small things, even if there's no such term as ADD anymore, it doesn't matter.
I checked my diet before posting, as I said I'm an athlete, I eat adequate amount of proteins (I eat salmon twice a week), no junk food, lots of omega 3 and olive oil, carbs vary - sometimes I cut (like now) so I'm currently low on carbs while the condition lasts all the time.
Last, I take Opti-men by Optimum & Nutrition Animal Pak by Universal (opti for off days, pak for training days), which is a strong multivitamin for trainers, I doubt I got any lack of vitamins\minerals etc.
Question #20:
Conte Breaks Down How Boxers Can Beat USADA's Tests?
As the former BALCO founder, Victor Conte made a career out of beating international drug testing systems worldwide. And in a recent conversation, the man who ran the controversial sports nutrition center in Burlingame, Calif., claimed that boxers can still do it against even the most sophisticated procedures that the United States Anti-Doping Agency and the World Anti-Doping Agency, let alone those that boxing's commissions can come up with.
The scheme is called "Blood-doping," a method by which steroid or performance-enhanced blood is removed from an athlete's body, and then, later, re-infused in order to boost the competitor's oxygen, and, strength capacity, according to Conte.
The practice has been used in Olympic competition as well as others, Conte said.
"For example, Tour De France cyclists. They test the blood, and if it comes back higher than 50 percent on the side of the red blood cells, they don't ban them, but they suspend them for two weeks for what they call 'Health concerns,'" said Conte to BoxingScene.com.
"So you don't want your baseline hermaticrit to be over 50 percent. They like to target it and keep it at 49 percent. Increasing it from 44-to-49 percent, however, will certainly increase your performance."
By using this method, said Conte, the actual drugs, themselves, can't be detected, although the rise in the percentage of the red blood cell increase can.
"They can detect the percentage, exactly. If you're re-infusing the blood, and that percentage starts to drop down, you know, as you're preparing and training for the fight, then you can just re-infuse some of their previously withdrawn red blood cells by intravenous injection," said Conte.
"They can re-infuse that and they can keep it at a steady level of 49 percent all the way up to the fight. So now, that's all undetectable by USADA."
What about in the case of a boxer?
"If somebody were advising them, they could use EPO throughout for two weeks, if someone were advising them on how to do it, just like the cyclists do, and they could have previously extracted some of these red blood cells and put them in the refrigerator," said Conte.
"So then, five weeks out from the fight, coming in, they can't use EPO, because they're being randomly tested and that might be discovered even though the EPO only stays within your system for a day," said Conte. "But you can re-infuse your own red blood cells. And if you are shown how to re-infuse your red blood cells, they can't detect that."
ya i know its couple weeks old but interesting read.
